The whole country is suffering and yes there is corruption in the in the gardai and in politics...now that's an investigation I would love to see on TV or anywhere ...but that would be too daring.

The Gardai should be equally capable all over Ireland!! They are all equally trained in Irish law! Don't talk non sense.

Evictions are evictions, lets hope there much more, if it's deserved of them.

I agree with Colm. Limerick is seriously up shite creek without a paddle so to speak. The sooner people face up to that fact, the sooner something might actually be done. Then again having said that, with a shite and partially corrupt Garda force, that's asking a lot. If one were to believe recent reports, there are at least 10 to 15 Gardai being questioned in relation to links to criminal gangs/activity nationwide.

I'd love to know what happened to that one tenant who was evicted. My bet is he was evicted from one house but simply moved to another on application or threat of legal action.

It's also interesting that this doesn't include the families "evicted" from Limerick but re-housed in Shannon, Ennis, Mallow, Clonmel etc where they are now causing bloody mayhem as the Gardai in these towns aren't equipped to deal with them. No doubt they are simply recategorised as something other than eviction.

Lies, damn lies, statistics, and Irish Civil Service reports.

Oh here we go again.

Jesus, all cities over Europe have these so called "gangs", this is not new. Maybe coming up with positive solutions and suggestions to a modern problem might be interesting news or at least an interesting debate. The problem is there is a huge demand and a huge culture of drugs in todays society...its supply and demand...from the lower class selling...to the middle class businessmen who sniff coke at night clubs...and that's a world wide problem.

The bigger questions, is who is stopping the tons of drugs coming ashore onto our Island, for example, what's been done by our policians and the guards? Not enough for sure. Look at the border of mexico and USA...now that is a major problem...drugs are the single biggest issue the world has over.

But it is funny the Irish media wallow and focus on negativity. We focus way too much on crime in this country, when other positive attributes are also in abundance.

In the end it's just very lazy and the worst journalism.

...and nothing new to say.

Oh some small elements are wrong so the whole thing is rubbish. Clearly Limerick is a place of no problems.

It's hard viewing and yes some of it was inaccurate but the broad message was true. Limerick has serious problems. Nit picking over some facts and statistics is like the Engineers on the Titanic arguing if the influx of water per second was 1000 gallons or 1500 gallons.

We need to face facts that the Limerick crime gangs are a cancer on the city (and increasingly the whole of Munster as the regeneration project spread the disease by moving some of the families to Shannon, Mallow, Ennis, Clonmel etc). That cancer has to be dealt with harshly, swiftly and without mercy.

By the way what does PlayTV have to do with it?

as for the legal system, well if they are caught and convicted , for 295th time .... they will be told '' ahh shure go home now and be a good lad'' - this shithole is completely fucked up. While the Gardai wait en mase for the evil motorist to gleefully hand out penalty points for doing 32 in a 30 zone ... Oh yeah .. NOW THATS breaking the law ....

im moving ehile i still can. got the Visa for Oz and ill never , EVER EVER return to this corrupt little banana republic.

there is merit in what he said, but seems very forceful in his comments, in fairness i do not find migrant people socialising in great numbers if at all, as a matter of fact they choose to purchase NOT in the irish stores, but the cllr did point out the vast number and not all

Well all, I know this is an old post, but I just wanted to add to it due to the fact that MacIntyre is showing his programme on Thursday Night about our homeboys in Limerick City.

I find it amusing that just 2 weeks before the programme is due to be aired, our own Limerick man "Barry Duggan" decides to release a book about crime in our City. Good to see another journalist jumping on the band wagon like Paul Williams, and lining his pockets with money from the misfortune of others.

There are 2 sides to the coin here and I don't disagree with what Paul Williams does in exposing the scumbags but I would like to highlight that there was no need for Barry Duggan to write the new book "Mean Streets" . The national media has already highlighted the problems in Limerick and thankfully the city is involved in regeneration. I read the book and found that it explains everything that we know aleady and how the Government has failed all of these people.

I think "enough is enough" with all of this negitive reporting, and publicity.

Unfortunately, Limerick will always be labelled stab city and we'll never shake off the smart comments from others outside the county. It would help if our own stopped reporting and continuing the process of keeping Limericks problems in the headlines. We need reporters to start reporting positively and start changing public perceptions of our great city. Thankfully now we have the ERU, CAB and the Regeneration in place in Limerick, we have what we need. time to move on.

If I were Barry Duggan I'd donate all proceeds from the book towards the regeneration areas. I'm sure his proceeds would set up a nice astroturf in The Island, Westen, Southill and Moyross and keep a few youngfellas off the streets.

That film title can be applied to any town or city in Ireland, or perhaps the world? I have lived here for 7 years and as far as I can see Limerick is just a city like any other. Get over the self persecution and stop worrying about what might happen!
